Dromin Church

Dromin church was built in 1828 on the site of a thatched church under the leadership of Fr James O'Regan. At the turn of the century the church was renovated and again in 1992.

dromin churchIn 1951 a statue was erected to commemorate Fr Stephen O'Dea's 50 years of being a priest. This statue is situated oustside the church.

When the church was renovated in 1982, the local parishioners donated the stations of the cross inside dromin churchand Fr John Irwin who was parish priest gave a stained glass window. Mary Barry from Raymonstown also gave a stained glass window of the good shepherd, this window is inside the door of the church.

The church has three exit doors, one main door at the end of the Isle and one at either side of the alter for the side Isles. There is a statue of St Joseph to the right of the alter and a statue of Holy Mary to the left of the alter.

A plaque was erected by the people of Dromin in memory of Fr Patrick Ryan who was parish priest from 1849 until his death in 1856.

Athlacca Church

Athlacca church was built in 1840 to replace the thatched church that was damaged on the Night of the Big Wind on January 6th, 1839. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist.

ahtlacca churchThe church has two stained glass windows on the left which are in memory to Robert Clery. These windows show images of St Munchin, St Joseph and St John the Baptist. There is a stained glass window on the right of the church that depits the Sacred Heart and the Vergin Mary. There is a stained glass window to Patrick Power. There is also a stained glass window to St Patrick and St Brigid.

There is a small alter at the left of the main alter to the Queen of Peace. The Baptismal font is to the memory of Pakie and Kathleen Lynch. The priests chair was given by Pat Lane and family and John O'Keefe and family donated the pulpit.
